Serena Stewart, The Centenary Team
Story
Dear friends, family, colleagues and fellow supporters,
Well, it is that time of year again for me to get my running shoes on. This year, however, I am taking on a new challenge and attempting to run a half marathon in order to raise money for the Centenary Institute - one of the premier independent Medical Research Institutes in Australia, and one that is unique in its focus of using inflammation research as the basis of finding cures - not only for inflammatory diseases, but also cancer and cardiovascular diseases.
Located on the border of the University of Sydney Campus and the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, many of Centenary's senior researchers are professors and clinicians, which ensures a virtuous cycle of bed to bench to bed and the translation of cutting edge research into practice. This is an almost ideal situation ensuring that the most up-to-date technologies are applied to relevant clinical problems which sees the Australian population receive the greatest possible benefit.
It would be amazing to not only raise awareness of diseases that affect so many, but raise vital funds that will help Australia’s most talented scientists understand the mechanisms of chronic conditions into order to overcome them. So please, join me or make a donation to continue supporting Australia's best chance of a future free of chronic disease. Every dollar counts!
Thank you for your support and helping to make a difference!
xx
