Story
Having exceeeded my fundraising target of $1,000.00, I'm now aiming for $2,000.00!
I'm taking part in the Sydney Running Festival 2015 and helping to raise much needed funds for research to lift survival rates of patients with gastro-intestinal (GI) cancers.
GI cancer affects the oesophagus, stomach, gall bladder, liver, pancreas, and bowel. It kills more Australians than any other cancer.
Each year more than 24,600 Australians are diagnosed with GI cancer and 33 Australians die each and every day from the disease.
Sadly, the five year survival rate for patients with the disease is just 49%. Our aim at the GI Cancer Institute is to raise funds for research that will lift survival rates to comparable levels of breast cancer and prostate cancer which are above 90%.
This winter I’m going to be sweating it out at training to prepare myself for the event in September. I will do my best to complete a gruelling course over the Harbour Bridge, around Sydney's CBD and finishing at the Opera House steps.
I hope that you will consider supporting me by making a donation.
